Sixteen Espanola residents are facing distracted driving charges after a blitz run by the Espanola Police Service. It happened earlier this month, with several undercover officers sitting at intersections throughout town. The police say one driver was also charged with failing to stop at a red light, after driving right through it because he was texting.
All 16 were hit with three demerit points, and a fine of almost $500.
