The Blind River area is experiencing a breakout of whooping cough. Algoma Public Health knows of more than 50 cases so far. Whooping cough is a contagious bacterial disease that affects the respiratory system. It starts as in irritating cough and gets worse.
The health unit says people can get immunized against the cough. To get a vaccination shot, call the health unit to set-up an appointment at 1-800-469-2449.
