Hughes helping young students get a taste of federal politics

A local politician is helping teenagers learn more about how our country is run. Carol Hughes, the MP for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, is taking part in the Forum For Young Canadians. The Forum brings students between the ages of 15 and 19 to the nation’s capital to see politics and public affairs in action. Hughes says the Forum really helps students get a feel for how Ottawa works. She says it broadens students’ perspective and helps them decide what they might want to study after high school.

Hughes spent time with Frederic Deibel in Ottawa, a Forum participant from Nairn Centre who studies at École Franco-Ouest in Espanola. Deibel says it was a great opportunity for young Canadians to get an in-depth look at the country and learn about politics.
