The Ontario Arts Council is awarding Espanola’s annual Fibre Arts Festival $11,000. This is a step up over last year which didn’t have an official sponsor. In order to fund the event, Volunteer Coordinator Jody Pilon sold baked goods for months. She has helped to grow the festival from 240 visitors in its first year to almost 2,000 last fall. She says this support from the OAC will open up possibilities for festival growth and development, education and mentorship. The Fibre Arts Fest runs every year on the third weekend of October.
