The mayor of Elliot Lake has made a bit of headway in the pursuit of a multi-use complex. While at the Good Roads Association meeting in Toronto, Dan Marchisella met with the minister of municipal affairs about the project and got political support. Marchisella says that doesn’t mean money.
What it means is the ministry will soon send its people to Elliot Lake to help it develop the project further. The mayor says there’s value in this, as it will get Elliot Lake to the top of the list for money when the province releases funding models.
The Ministry of Northern Development will also send staffers to Elliot Lake this spring with the same objective. Marchisella believes it’s possible to build a multi-use complex for about 30-million dollars.
