The tender to complete the construction of Phase Four of Highway Six – Centre Street in Espanola has been approved by the council.
Special Projects Manager Joel Yusko says the town received five tenders for the work to rebuild the main byway from Station Road to Tudhope Street.
He says the winning bid is from Green Infrastructure Partners Limited at just over 6.0 million dollars.
He adds there is a debt to a maximum of $1,100,000 to fund any portion of the project that cannot be funded from reserves, adding the total municipal commitment increased from the original estimate by that amount since the project was originally proposed.
Yusko explains the 2024 capital budget committed just over $2.5 million from reserves with a total municipal contribution of 3.6 million dollars.
Council approved the tender with the work expected to begin soon.
