Mantha says still no definitive answers for the Little Current Swing Bridge Replacement Project

Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha says he plans to push even harder on getting some definitive answers when it comes to the Little Current Swing Bridge.
He says the process has been slow to replace the 111-year-old route that connects Manitoulin Island to the mainland with environmental assessments, heritage assessments, local consultations, and now seems to have stalled.
He says in the current provincial budget, the government included the swing bridge as a highlighted infrastructure project that they were promoting as part of their plan.
Mantha emphasizes while great on paper, what was not included in the budget was a timeline to complete the project, the amount of money being put into it, or even when they plan to get shovels in the ground.
Mantha adds when he questioned the Minister of Transportation about the project’s status, no answers were provided, stating it was part of the “plan to build infrastructure across the province.”
He says he will continue the push for answers when legislators return to Queen’s Park in the new year.
