First Nation and non-indigenous communities will gather at various events throughout the day to mark the national Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit Day.
In Sudbury, the N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre will host a special unveiling to mark the day, which is also called Red Dress Day.
The “Red Dress Art Reveal” is a piece of art created by Kathryn Corbiere of One Kwe Modern Fabrications.
It was commissioned through the Looking Ahead to Build the Spirit of Our Women – Learning to Live Free from Violence project in collaboration with the centre.
The artist will speak to the public and more information will be shared about the Looking Ahead project.
