Rainbow Schools take part in virtual Take Our Kids to Work Day

Grade 9 students in Rainbow Schools including Espanola High and Manitoulin Secondary will take part in a virtual version of Take Our Kids to Work Day.

Education director Bruce Bourget says today’s Take Our Kids to Work Day is Canada’s longest-running, highest-profile career exploration event for students.

He says students can take part in live-streamed breakout sessions with panelists that represent diverse careers, and for more flexibility, a series of online work experience videos from EdgeFactor can be viewed on-demand during regularly scheduled classes.

He adds the Learning Partnership, a national not-for-profit organization, sponsors Take Our Kids to Work.

Bourget says now its 28th year, the program provides Grade 9 students with the opportunity to experience and learn about the world of work as they begin to explore possible career paths.

Over 200,000 Grade 9 students and some 75,000 businesses and organizations nationwide participate in Take Our Kids to Work day annually. The Learning Partnership began the program in Ontario in 1994 and has since expanded across Canada.
