Chief and council of Whitefish River First Nation have been sworn in.
Chief Franklin Paibomsai says the council was honoured to conduct the Oath of Office before such a large crowd of their citizens.
He takes that as a clear sign of their accountability to the membership.
Under the new Code passed in 2018, Paibomsai and this council will serve four-year terms for the first time, rather than two-year terms.
The swearing in took place Saturday as part of the community gathering for its 47th Annual Winter Carnival.
