Espanola’s Canada Post Strike Captain, Cindy Lalonde, says the local post office reopens today. The local outlet was closed as part of the ongoing rotation strikes throughout the country.
Lalonde thanks everyone for their support. She explains they are striking for equal pay and safety. And getting paid for hours worked.
Lalonde explains: right now RSMC are working longer hours because of the extra volume in parcels, so if tour route is say 6 hours and you worked 8, you only get paid for 6.
She adds injuries has also sky rocketed in the last two years, 43%.
Full services return today.
Federally, there is talk about the federal Liberals putting back to work legislation in place to force the workers to discontinue the rotating strikes and move the Black Friday and Christmas packaging along.Â
