Over 120 students from 17 French Catholic elementary schools including Elliot Lake, Blind River and Espanola competed in the 15th annual Great Robotics Competition that was held at Science North in Sudbury last week.
Though the competition primarily measured the efficiency of robots, prizes were also awarded for quality of school banners, a team cheer and video competition.
The competition enabled students from Grades 4 through 8 to display their creativity, ingenuity and tenacity.
Each team comprised of four students was asked to construct a robot made from LEGO EV3 and NXT blocks and were tested in two different contests, one which measured the strength and precision of the machines, and the second the success of its programming and level of control by its student masters.

Intermediate Division (grades 7 to 8):

2nd place:             Techno Robo Lynx, École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford)
3rd place:             Les Dragons Digitales, École Ste-Thérèse (Val-Thérèse)
