Laurentian University in Sudbury has pulled off a first. It’s the first post-secondary school in Ontario to introduce a mental health program for its international students. The wellness counselling program offers students help in their native language 24-7.
Counsellors are available through video conferencing, chat lines, e-mail and also directly over the phone. The goal is to make international students, who might face barriers because of their language and cultural differences, safe and comfortable.
