The Manitoulin OPP is releasing their enforcement numbers for March, which includes their seatbelt blitz over the Easter long weekend. Three drivers were charged with impaired driving, and four with distracted driving.
Police also handed out seven tickets for aggressive driving, and 18 for not wearing a seatbelt. Half of those were handed out during the Easter weekend.
Manitoulin Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Kevin Webb says the lack of seatbelt use continues to be an issue in the area. He says seatbelts save lives, and police will continue to focus their enforcement to meet their commitments to road safety.
