Foodland in Elliot Lake opens at its new home at the Pearson Plaza this Friday. It’s the first of several stores and the library to open at the site. Mayor Dan Marchisella says for the most part, work on the Foodland portion is complete, except for power, but he adds workers got around that. He says they have a transport truck parked behind the building running the power. It’s a trailer-sized generator that is totally silent.
For the last couple of weeks, delivery trucks have been arriving at Foodland stocking it with food. Friday’s event is also a grand opening. As for the rest of the plaza, it should open by early summer.
