The MNR is charging a Sudbury area man $1000 after an illegal deer hunt. Although the man did have a valid hunting license, it wasn’t for the area where he shot the deer. On Manitoulin Island, a deer hunter’s license is only valid when accompanied by written permission from the landowner to hunt on their property. He pleaded guilty in a Gore Bay court earlier this month. The deer was seized and donated to a local charity.
