Not all northern groups are critical of last week’s provincial budget. The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities says the budget will increase the community infrastructure fund to 300-million dollars by 2018.
Also doubling to 30-million over the same time frame is the connecting links program. However one area that has FONOM worried is the impact adding 4.3 cents a litre in fuel taxes will have on the north.
And FONOM is silent that the Wynne Liberals simply re-announced previous commitments to the Ring of Fire without setting out a time frame.
