Big decisions ahead over spring bear hunt extension, according to Morley

The president of the Espanola Game and Fish Protective Association says outfitters have big decisions to make over the spring bear hunt. With the hunt extended to 2020, Leland Morley says outfitters have to decide whether to absorb huge start-up costs to re-establish lost business.

He says it’s not an easy choice because no one knows what happens after 2020. He is asking if they really want to put the time, money, and effort to bring hunters all back in just to potentially lose them again in a few years. He says it’s a huge cost, the bear hunt has been studied to death and it should be brought back permanently.
