Centennial Arena in Elliot Lake is expected to re-open sometime this week. Some beams at the facility were damaged forcing the temporary closure of the arena late last week. However crews spent the weekend repairing the site.
Mayor Dan Marchisella says staff responded quickly to the situation and closed the arena to protect the public. An engineer will re-evaluate the facility following the repairs, and assuming he gives it his stamp of approval, Centennial should re-open very soon.
