Bridge in Huron Shores reopens with load restriction

The Dean Lake Bridge has reopened but has a load restriction in place.
The Township of Huron Shores says the bridge that crosses the Mississagi River just east of Iron Bridge re-opened on Thursday with a six-metric-tonne load limit following a structural inspection.
The analysis confirms the bridge can safely accommodate vehicles up to that weight limit under controlled conditions.
Signage has been installed at both ends of the structure under compliance with the Highway Traffic Act, which means it will be accessible to passenger vehicles, but no large trucks or transports.
Staff will also be bringing a follow-up report to council with findings and recommendations regarding funding, detour alternatives and remedial work on the structure.
