ORIGINAL: A fire has destroyed an apartment complex in Elliot Lake.
The Elliot Lake Fire Department was called out early last evening for a fire at 22 Hirshhorn Avenue.
Several people were evacuated, and there are no reports of injuries this morning, although it has been reported that pets were lost in the blaze.
The weather made fighting the fire extremely difficult, with gusty winds and snow squalls.
Despite the fire department’s best efforts, the building was lost by nine p.m. but firefighters have been on the site all night to look for hot spots.
Multiple agencies are assisting the displaced.
There seems to be no cause known at this time.
The investigation continues.
