Person charged after threatening neighbour and dog

East Algoma OPP says one person was arrested after breaking into a neighbour’s apartment and threatening the resident and their dog.
Acting Staff Sargeant Phil Young says on Saturday morning around 10:30 am, police were called to an apartment on Pine Road in Elliot Lake involving a neighbour dispute.
He says the complainant reported their female neighbour was highly intoxicated and acting irrational, broke down the door, entered the apartment, assaulted the complainant, and choked their dog.
Young says the dog was eventually let go, but the woman verbally threatened to kill it and the complainant, then broke three windows and assaulted another individual.
He says a 46-year-old woman from Elliot Lake is facing several charges including two counts of assault, break and enter and uttering threats.
The accused was remanded into custody until a bail hearing.
The accused charges are as follows:
Assault – two counts
Assault causing bodily harm
Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
Mischief over $5000
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
Uttering threats – damage or injure animal
Cruelty to animals – unnecessary pain, suffering or injury
