Blind River council cancels removal of park

Blind River council unanimously passed a motion put on the floor by its mayor to stop plans to remove playground equipment a popular park on Shirvon Drive.
Residents of the area had talked to members of council since the original decision was made saying the area is a vital part of their neighbourhood.
Mayor Sally Hagman also noted the decision should be reversed for environmental reasons since nesting turtles were discovered at the waterfront.
With the reversal, the future of the park will be discussed as part of the 2025 budget early next year.
