A 19-year-old Espanola teenager is looking at a possession of a controlled substance charge. Espanola police laid the charge after an officer stopped the vehicle because one headlight was out.
First the officer was going to tell the driver about the burnt light.
But when talking to the driver the officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle plus he saw flakes of the drug on the man’s lap. That triggered a search where a quantity of the drug was found.
