About 400 people took in the North Shore Strongman Competition in Elliot Lake. Two Elliot Lake women, Carissa Thorne and Jana Paddington came in first and third respectively. A woman from Timmins came in second. For the men, a resident from Barrie came in first and second went to a strongman from Sudbury. The oldest competitor was 76-year-old Fern Boucher who lifted 505 pounds.
