People moving to our market may not be getting a 7-0-5 area code.
Businesses and residents requesting a new phone number in mid-June may be given a number beginning with 6-8-3.
It’s because there is a high demand for new telephone numbers and the introduction of the new area code will create millions of new digits to dial. They will only be assigned when there is no longer a sufficient supply of numbers with the existing area codes.
But even if you do get the 6-8-3 digits it will not mean long-distance charges to call your neighbour and will not affect 9-1-1 services.
The other code used for the area served by 7-0-5 is 2-4-9 which was introduced in 2011.
