Age Friendly Program ends in Elliot Lake end of August

The Age-Friendly Program in Elliot Lake is coming to an end.

As a result of the pandemic, the city, in partnership with the Elliot Lake Family Health Team, had community members who were considered vulnerable to self-isolate.

It also implemented the Safe Age-Friendly Program for grocery and essential delivery in March of last year.

Economic Development Coordinator Ashten Vlahovich says Ontario is now in phase 3 of the reopening plan and that over 76% of residents have received one dose of the vaccine as of July 22nd.

She says over the course of the program, there were 4,385 deliveries with 428 citizens accessing the service.

Vlahovich says to ensure clients are aware of the program ending, letters and other options will be sent out with every grocery order and details will also be available on the city’s website.

Council says the program will end August 31st.
