Elliot Lake has closed a local dog park, and the Mount Dufour Ski Hill Road and parking lot while an asphalt regeneration project is underway.
Last month The Moose reported that council had been told to get rid of its old stock of used asphalt and members unanimously agreed that reusing it to refurbish areas around the city was the most economical way to go.
The asphalt grinding is proceeding at the Pearson Dog Park with the work expected to last until at least the end of July.
The ski hill parking lot will benefit from the process with resurfacing taking place with the road being closed for around two weeks to complete that portion of the project.
Council has also agreed to look at asphalt regeneration projects elsewhere in the city and will proceed with those projects once the ski area work is completed.
