SOME BUSES CANCELLED, SOME SCHOOLS CLOSED, SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES – SUDBURY, ESPANOLA, MASSEY AND MANITOULIN DISTRICTS

Due to poor visibility and side road conditions and in the interest of safety, all school related transportation services for English Catholic, English public, French Catholic and French public schools, operating in the districts of SUDBURY, ESPANOLA, MASSEY AND MANITOULIN, (this includes all areas such as St-Charles, Noëlville, Monetville, Markstay, Hagar, Warren, Wahnapitae, Coniston, Killarney, Whitefish, Whitefish River First Nations, Manitoulin Island, Onaping, Chelmsford, Capreol, Valley East, Garson, Chelmsford and Azilda) are cancelled today. Most schools will remain open, however, NO transportation will be provided.

Meanwhile, several Island schools are closed due to the outage including Central Manitoulin, Charles C. McLean, Manitoulin Secondary School, all schools and hub centre in Wikwemikong and Kenjawin Teg in M’Chigeeng.

However, staff is expected to report to work.

Also:

The Huron Shores Family Health Team Clinic in Blind River is closed.
There are also scattered power outages on Manitoulin Island including Gore Bay and M’Chigeeng.

A couple of thousand people are affected.
