A new double school in Espanola will take at least two years to build.
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board has hired Build North Construction of Sudbury to build the $25.2-million facility.
Communications spokesperson, Brigitte Morin with the French board, says Integrated Design Engineering-Architecture has designed the new building, which will include a shared gym and school yard.
The two French Catholic schools, Ecole St. Joseph and Ecole secondaire Franco-Ouest will be combined into one and take up one half of the building while Sacred Heart will occupy the other half.
Morin adds the combined French schools will also get a new name, but discussion has not yet begun on the renaming of the school.
Construction begins this Spring with a tentative opening date of September 2020.
