Advocacy groups make a difference in our communities every day, according to Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, MP Carol Hughes.
Rising in Parliament, Hughes paid tribute to the work of the Maplegate House for Women which provides critical services to Elliot Lake and area.
Hughes noted that Maplegate has plans for growth and makes it possible for others in the community to help their neighbours.
On top of that, they actively engage people in the area so that everyone has the opportunity to help their neighbours in need, added Hughes.
She also praised the organization for raising $24,000 to help Maplegate serve the community over the weekend.
