The local area MP for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing walked in the women’s march in Sudbury on Saturday to add her voice to those calling for a world where women are equal in every way.
MP Carol Hughes says she sees the MeToo movement as something of a watershed moment because it is allowing a challenge of people who hold a lot of power in society and holds them accountable.
Hughes says events like the march shows people believe society still has a long way to go until women are not just considered equal, but also treated equally.
Hughes believes women’s issues cover a lot of ground and notes people march for diverse reasons in search of a common reason, such as how we treat our environment, racial equality, and workers’ rights.
